About Bhadrak

Bhadrak District is an administrative district of Orissa state in eastern India. The district is named for the town of Bhadrak, which is the district headquarters. On 1 April 1993 this district was carved out from the Balasore District and became a separate entity. The district has an area of 2,677 km² and a population of 1,332,249 according to the 2001 census. Bhadrak town is situated at a distance of 159 km from the state capital, Bhubaneswar, and it is famous for Bhadrakali Temple.Which is also now a great occasion over the district. Aradi, Chandabali, Dhamanagar, Dhamara, and Guamala Nuasasan are some other places of tourist interest. The language mostly spoken by the people is Oriya, though some people speak Urdu, Santhali, and Bengali. Salandi River passes by this district.Rakta tirtha Eram in Basudev pur ,where about 30 people died by firing of british police,while fighiting for our indipendence is another tourist place.First lady from orissa who gives her life in freedom struggle belongs to this place.Brahmangan is another village in Basudevpur constituency of this district is famous for its Prasanna Khemeswar mahadeva temple and its melana jatra during Holi. Banta,Basantia also two block & village respectively in which village various Melas are organised in various days of the year out of which PANCHUKA PURNIMA which is celebrating in a very great fun of people in which boat is sailed in the big pond of Basantia village in the memorries of Oriya Sadhabas,who was going to make their business in the near ilands like JAVA,BORNIO for too many days.And also in this mela big Operas also comes here to show their shows.

Two former Chief ministers of Orissa, Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab and Mr Nilamani Rautray were from Basudevpur Legislative Assembly Constituency of this district.
